So this past Wednesday I was at work checking my email when this popped up:
Hi Bonnie!
I'm an associate producer at The Dr. Oz Show, and we are looking for some huge fans of Hungry Girl in the NY/NJ/CT area for a segment we're going to be taping next week. Please shoot me an email at your earliest convenience to chat.
Many thanks,
(name withheld)Associate Producer, "The Dr. Oz Show"
I was about to delete it when I though "Is this even real?"
So I sent this reply:
Hi (name withheld),
Thank you so much for the consideration, unfortunately I reside in Windsor, Ontario Canada. Feel free to send me a plane ticket though and I will definitley be there to root on Hungry Girl....lol....She is one amazing woman!!!Bonnie
I bet not even 10 minutes went by when I received another reply:
Well Bonnie if you’re available we might be able to make that happen! I just love your blog!! If it goes over with my producer, we could fly you in on Monday night for the show on Tuesday, and then fly you back to Windsor on Tuesday night.
Let me know your thoughts.
At this point I got a little nervous and excited all at the same time. So I replied again:
This is what he said:
Already did! My producer is in. She’d be willing to bring you in from Windsor!! I came across your blog via a google search on weight loss.
Give me a call tomorrow (Thurs) after you speak to your employer about the time off: My direct line is (# withheld)
I thought about this, spoke to my husband, and even facebooked about it. It was an amazing opportunity for me and I have never been to New York. Those were the positives, the negatives were flying alone, and asking for time off at work from a job that I have been at for 5 months, and leaving clients that are depending on me to staff for them. In the end I had to decline due to my work schedule.
I called the associate produce back and declined. He was actually surprised & disappointed, but assured me that he is a huge fan of my blog, that he will continue to keep in touch for future shows, and will give me more notice next time for work purposes.
So that's it folks.......I was this close.......
On another note, on the same day I got the email, I also received a delivery of flowers at work from a client. The note said: "Thank you Bonnie for all your hard work"......This was the best thing ever!!!!!
Definitely put a smile on my face....it's nice to be recognized.
I would need to inquire about getting the time off of work before I could commit to anything.
Run it by your producer to see what he says.....
I am curious though how you came across my blog?
